A 100% preventable hazard still continues because of apathy.

With so much information available about the dangers and impacts of silica dust on climate change (even from NASA), why is there no mention of controlling the dust in the “Green New Deal” on the over one million miles of unpaved roadway in the United States?
Making Fugitive Dust Seem Normal
All the advertising by automobile companies showing dust as a cool thing to create is violating federal, state, and local fugitive dust laws. Millions of dollars in fines from decades of emitting fugitive dust during commercial activity would be available to fund advertising against dust if someone decided to take action against the automobile advertisers using dust to promote sales.
We all know that in film making there are several takes for every shot, so even though the thirty-second commercial may only show three to four seconds of a vehicle engulfed in dust, they probably went two or three days of creating dust before they got the video shot they wanted. This further magnifies people’s apathy towards dust when they are shown that being engulfed in dust is a part of day-to-day life.
Just like a construction site cannot emit fugitive dust during a commercial activity, it also should apply to these automobile advertisers, should it not?
The reality of the apathy regarding dust in the country is the same apathy smokers had towards secondhand smoke and non-smokers’ rights to breathe clean air. Should these same rules not apply to dust when I am walking down the road and get engulfed in dust as you drive by me… Is that not the same as smoking a cigarette and blowing the smoke in my face?
Which is illegal…
Secondhand smoke laws took many years to become accepted by smokers. These laws were accepted by nonsmokers who drove the narrative against secondhand smoke. We all need to be against dusty roads, parking lots, construction sites, etc. as this can be 100% prevented and should be according to federal, state, and local laws.
If you are truly committed to climate change and healthcare, then dust should be recognized as a problem worth solving. The billions of dollars sent overseas to fight wars could have given money for these roads to have been paved or given access to long-lasting safe nontoxic dust control.
From horse riding arenas to car commercials, to offroad racing, to mountain biking, to baseball and softball fields, to all activities in open dirt areas, we need to recognize the truth for what it is and stop ignoring the easiest problem to fix regarding climate change and health.
